A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated §5-10-15d, relating to authorizing retirement for corrections officers after 25 years of service.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
Article 10. West Virginia Public Employees Retirement Act.
§5-10-15d. Pension rights for corrections officers.
Notwithstanding any of the other provisions of this article, other than the federal law limitations contained in §5-10-27a and §5-10-27b, any member of the retirement system may retire with full pension rights, without reduction of benefits, if he or she has 25 years of contributing service as a corrections officer, as used in chapter 15A of this code.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to provide a full retirement option for corrections officers with 25 years of contributing service as a corrections officer.
